Hanging out with you during the workday, 10a-3p

Let's be friends!
I use Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest A LOT, click the links & follow along in the fun!

Born in upstate NY, went to school there for broadcasting, moved to Wilmington 10 years ago with the intention of going to Graduate School but kind of got sucked into this radio world and haven't looked back. If you ask my parents, this profession really isn’t a surprise. I've always been known to talk a bit much...I think every progress report I got made mention of "Jackie talks too much in class" and "Jackie needs to learn her multiplication tables" never really got the hang of those! I was raised by two of the most genuinely amazing people I've ever known -- and I have them to thank for my sarcastic nature! I really don't know what kind of person I would be without my parents, not trying to get sappy here, but they've taught me by example. Oh, and I have an older brother who was as calm as I was hyper growing up. He would lay on the floor drawing (now he's a tattoo artist, and a very successful one at that!) and I would run in circles around him.

Recently I got MARRIED to the most fantastic man I've ever known!  We were so fortunate to have the support & love of our family & friends making it an unforgettable & amazing day.

I play a lot of volleyball, I've always been more into sports than shopping and girlie stuff. I have bizarre and slightly irrational fears (for example, I hate feet. They freak me out.), I love flowers, I've been known to be a little clumsy (haha, a little?!?!) and I have a minor obsession with mullets, not the fish, the 80's hairstyle.

I let listeners ask me questions on Facebook to fill in my bio, here's what came of that:

What influences in life did you have that lead you to your broadcasting career?
I can’t exactly pinpoint any one specific influence, I’ve just always wanted to be in radio. As a child I used to listen to the radio A LOT & I used to record myself making announcements. I always liked giving presentations or being in plays & as I got older it was the logical transition into the radio field during college.

What are some of your lifetime accomplishments?
When I got my first shot at being on air in radio I considered that my first big accomplishment. It was the moment when all the hard work paid off then I just had to keep pushing to get more. I’m incredibly proud of all that’s come from that first air shift & the way I’ve been able to consistently move my life forward to get where I want to be.

My favorite Saturday morning cartoon was...?
I loved watching The Smurfs & The Gummy Bears and although it wasn’t a cartoon, I never missed an episode of Saved By The Bell. Never.

Who is your favorite superhero?
I’m a big fan of Spiderman.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Before you ended up in broadcasting
In 8th grade I wanted to be a lawyer, I loved talking & debating. In 12th grade, I wanted to be on the radio but didn’t think it was a possibility so I went for a career in Psychology but quickly switched that in college to my minor & went for Broadcast Journalism.

What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow? :)
There’s so many things I have to look up on this one. What’s a swallow? How does it become unladen? Air has a speed velocity? I’ve got a lot to research before I can even begin to tackle this one…

What was the grossest thing you ever had to experience as a kid?
My brother & his friends holding me down and passing gas on my face. Very not cool. And I have a feeling one of my brother’s friends submitted this question…

How did you get to be so faaaaabulous??!!
Awww, thanks!!!  It’s a combination of a strong work ethic, a lack of coordination & an ability to be able to laugh at myself & find joy in most any situation. =) And you’re sweet to ask!

Favorite Song, band and era
Way too many to have just one.  I love music in general, all types. I’ve been known to listen to swing music from the 20’s to big band, 60’s rock to 80’s pop, 90’s rap & grunge to country & anything in between.

Boxers or briefs?!!
On men, boxers. On me, briefs because let’s be real, women’s jeans are not cut for baggie drawers!

Remember that time I had to drive all night to pick you up at the Texas/Mexico border? You were earing nothing more than tassles, a sombrero and a tequila bottle. You told me at the time not to ask, I'm asking now: What happened to the parrot?

HAHAHAHA!! BEST QUESTION EVER!! And I’m still not ready to talk about that night…
