MIKE FARROW

As WGNI's afternoon drive announcer, Mike gets Wilmington home from work/school with the perfect mix of craziness and information.  Mike specializes in covering Wilmington's legendary traffic problems with the help of the Cell-Net Traffic Patrol, WGNI's unique network of listener-reporters.

Mike started his radio career at a small station in his hometown of Parkersburg , West Virginia while still in high school (“O.K., bring on the hillbilly jokes!!”). He went on to do radio in Pittsburgh , Pa. , Johnstown , Pa. , New London , Conn. , and Providence , R.I. before discovering Wilmington . Mike says, “WGNI started out as just a stop in my travels as a radio gypsy. However, it didn’t take me long to recognize a good thing. And 20 years later, here I am.”

When not playing radio, Mike also spends a lot of time at various baseball fields watching his son, Alex, hone his skills as the next Ken Griffey, Jr. (“Please, God, please!!”). Never having been an athlete Mike adds, “I can live vicariously through him and not do serious damage to my body at the end of the day”.

After all these years Mike still considers it a thrill to do what he does for a living. “I get to be on the radio every day doing my thing as an entertainer and touching peoples lives with pertinent and sometimes lifesaving information. Not bad for a skinny-nerdy guy from West Virginia with no apparent skills.”
