Jackie Jordan
Listen to Carter & Jackie weekday mornings 5:30am - 10am.
Where
to begin? Who would have thought that writing about yourself would be
so difficult! I guess I can start at the beginning...here goes…
Born
in upstate NY, went to school there for broadcasting, moved to
Wilmington 5 years ago with the intention of going to Graduate School
but kind of got sucked into this radio world and haven't looked back.
If you ask my parents, this profession really isn’t a surprise. I've
always been known to talk a bit much...I think every progress report I
got made mention of "Jackie talks too much in class" and
"Jackie needs to learn her multiplication tables" never really got the
hang of those! I was raised by two of the most genuinely amazing
people I've ever known -- and I have them to thank for my sarcastic
nature! I really don't know what kind of person I would be without my
parents, not trying to get sappy here, but they've taught me by
example. Oh, and I have an older brother who was as calm as I was
hyper growing up. He would lay on the floor drawing (now he's a tattoo
artist, and a very successful one at that!) and I would run in circles
around him. How he didn't kill me, I don't know!
So...why
radio? Easy. I love music. Any kind of music. It's been a part of
me for as long as I can remember. I listen
to music all day and most of the night...I like everything from big
band/swing to rock, rap to country, indie to 80’s and everything in
between. I'm pretty out there so it makes sense that my musical taste
would be too!
I
play a lot of volleyball -- I've always been more into sports than
shopping and girlie stuff. I used to beg my parents to take me to
sporting events growing up and for my 9th birthday I went to see the
WWF --, I go to a lot of concerts, I have bizarre and slightly
irrational fears (for example, I hate feet. They freak me out.), I love sunflowers and rum but not
together, I've been known to be a little clumsy (haha, a little?!?!)
and I have a minor obsession with mullets, not the fish, the
80's hairstyle. Business in the front, party in the back; the old
Wisconsin Waterfall; the Mississippi Mudflap; the Achy Breaky Big
Mistaky. Love 'em!
