Meet Peter, our Make-A-Wish® spotlight for April!
Peter, an 18-year-old boy who is from New Hanover County, has T-Cell Lymphoblastic
Lymphoma (a cancer of the blood). Peter’s wish was to have tuition assistance during his freshman year at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Peter is just about finished with his freshman year and the assistance from the Make-A-Wish® foundation has relieved so much pressure & has enabled Peter to plan ahead to finish his college education. "I'd like to eventually give back someday & help others the way I was helped" says Peter.

Meet Alex, our Make-A-Wish® spotlight for March!
19-year-old Alex is originally from Wake Forest but currently he's a freshman at UNCW, making the Dean's List & living college life, inspite of dealing with an illness most of us would cower when facing. Alex's love of life & bravery in the face of this battle made him the perfect candidate for the Make-A-Wish® foundation!
This February Alex, along with 11 other kids with life-threatening medical conditions, made the trip to New Orleans LA to attend Super Bowl XLVII.
"I wasn't really keeping my hopes up that it would happen" said Alex but through donations & a lot of dedication from volunteers Alex DID experience his dream. "They definitely went over & beyond to provide for my family and the others. Knowing that I was gonna be able to go to the Super Bowl in the future definitely was a huge motivator....the 14 sessions of chemo & 6 weeks of radiation were definitely tough but knowing I had this in the future made it easier"

Meet Baylee, our Make-A-Wish® spotlight for February!
All Baylee ever wanted to do was visit her favorite characters at Walt Disney World. In June of 2012, Baylee was diagnosed with a brain tumor & began chemotherapy immediately. It was during this time that her surgeon recommended Make-A-Wish® to the family. The surgeon felt that Baylee needed something to keep her mind occupied, something to look forward to during her rigorous 12-week treatment.
Baylee's been adopted by the UNCW Women's Soccer Team as an honorary member, and really a little sister, & has spent a lot of time with the girls.
Baylee & her family, the UNCW Women's Soccer Team, Jackie Jordan & Janis Netherland with Make-A-Wish®.
Baylee's mom Tracie said “During the wish, it was an escape from reality for our entire family. We did not have to worry about anything. It was a chance for us to clear our minds and enjoy time together. The folks at Make-A-Wish® are angels. I can’t imagine not having this wish to look forward to. The wish made such a big difference in our lives. It provided a source of hope.”
